Report to the Greenlandic Parliament, Inatsisartut

The Danish Institute for Human Rights submits a report on its work in Greenland to the Greenlandic parliament, Inatsisartut.

The Danish Institute for Human Rights works closely with Greenlandic actors to promote and embed human rights in Greenland. Our closest partner is the Human Rights Council of Greenland. We also collaborate with Ilisimatusarfik, the University of Greenland, the MIO (Greenland's National Child Rights Institution), the Tilioq Disability Advocacy Institution, the Gender Equality Council of Greenland, the Council for the Greenlandic Judicial System and other actors, such as various departments in Naalakkersuisut (the Government of Greenland) and Nunatsinni Inuit Innarluutillit Kattuffat (NIIK), an umbrella organisation in the disability field. Our ongoing discussions with the Human Rights Council of Greenland create a solid foundation for our work to monitor the human rights situation in Greenland.

Together, we publish reports on issues of importance to Greenlandic society with recommendations to authorities and other key actors to strengthen the protection of citizens' rights.

We also jointly report to the various UN human rights committees to highlight areas where conditions in Greenland can be improved for the benefit of citizens. The MIO, the Tilioq Disability Advocacy Institution and the chairperson of the Gender Equality Council of Greenland are permanent members of the Human Rights Council of Greenland. In this context, the Institute receives invaluable knowledge and data from the organisations and the remaining Council members about the human rights situation in Greenland.

We strive to make the pdf versions of our publications etc. accessible for screen readers. If you experience any problems, please contact Digital Editor Stine Juhl Nielsen on stni@humanrights.dk
