Measurable equality - statistics as a tool for promoting gender equality in the municipalities

The report focuses on statistics as a tool for the municipalities when they work to promote equality.

The municipalities must mainstream oth as service providers and as employers, ie. that they must incorporate gender and equality into all their business. In this work, the municipalities need knowledge and facts about women's and men's life situation. In the report, Statistics Denmark gives some important suggestions on how statistics on gender equality can be made clearer and more user-friendly for the municipalities.

The report also highlights the concept of mainstreaming and analyzes opportunities and challenges in the municipalities 'work on gender equality based on figures and information from the municipalities' gender equality reports for 2011.

The Institute for Human Rights, as a national equal treatment body in the field of gender equality, shall promote equal treatment irrespective of gender. We do this, among other things, by conducting surveys, publishing reports and giving recommendations to key actors in the area. We also assist individuals in specific cases of discrimination.

The report is in Danish, but contains an English summary on page 14.
