Age and employment in the municipalities

From January 2016 it is no longer allowed for an employer to agree that a worker must be dismissed when he or she reaches a certain age.

The new ban is the culmination of a longer development, where the scope for putting emphasis on age in employment law matters has become increasingly smaller.
In order to highlight this issue, the Department of Equal Treatment launched a minor questionnaire survey for the purposes of this analysis in the autumn of 2015. The purpose was to uncover any equal treatment issues within this area.

We conclude, among other things, that the municipalities should actively address the issue of age and employment. This should be done, for example, at a senior interview, which can set the framework for initiating any measures to preserve the older employee in question in his / her position.
