Islamic law and constitutional debate
Right now, constitutional processes are going on all over the Middle East. One of the most debated issues is what role Islam should have in the constitutions.
In the West, a fear of radicalisation is widespread, but whatshould be the limits to the influence of religion in thesestate-defining documents?
To answer this, The Danish Institute for Human Rights is hosting a seminar on Islamic law and constitutional debates in the Middle East Thursday the 5th December. A range of internationally renowned experts in the field will give presentations, discussing both theoretical and practical aspects of contemporary constitutional debates and the role of Islamic law in these.
To attend, please respond to Marie Juul Petersen by email no later than December 3rd.
Participation is free, but registration is required.
