Freedom of expression and assembly

According to section 77 of the Basic Law, censorship or other preventive measures must not be introduced.

Riots at Nørrebro in connection with the Islam critic Rasmus Paludan's behavior in April 2019 have given rise to a debate about the limits of freedom of expression and assembly. It cannot be defended from a human rights perspective to meet a speech or assembly with violence, threats, vandalism or other criminal acts. However, there are limits to freedom of expression and assembly.
