Digital rights for national human rights institutions

This resource explores the impacts of technology on human rights and the role of national human rights institutions (NHRIs) in promoting and protecting human rights both online, offline and somewhere in between.

In other words, this is not an e-learning course and is not intended to be completed from start to finish. It is a learning resource to explore topics of interest within the digital rights context.

The tool is divided into the following three sections:

  1. Functions: how NHRIs can realise their different mandate areas in the digital age.
  2. Right holders: issues according to rights-holder groups and what NHRIs can do.
  3. Stakeholder engagement: the different stakeholders in the digital ecosystem and exploring how NHRIs can engage with them.

Each section is composed of chapters that combine the use of text and multimedia. You can navigate the tool by clicking on specific headlines of interest in the right-side navigation panel.
